I know few vegans who don’t love a mountain of beans and rice wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla. And, if you’re like me, drenched in hot sauce. At Flaming Amy’s vegans have more options than just beans and rice and a few veggies. They actually offer marinated tofu! It’s not insanely delicious, but hey - at least you can feel like you’re eating a balanced meal instead of just stripping a regular menu item until it’s just a few measly vegan ingredients. Personally I like my burritos more on the wet side than Flaming Amy’s offers, but the tofu makes up for it. Sort of. You also have a choice of black beans, pinto, or both.

They have a pretty extensive menu so I could be wrong, but I don’t think they have any item that is straight-up vegan. Whatever you order you’ll have to ask for it without cheese or sour cream. I haven’t inquired yet as to whether or not their guacamole has sour cream in it.

And speaking of condiments, let’s not forget the salsa bar and the hot sauce collection. The salsa bar has such gems as the Wasabi Avocado Salsa, Pineapple Jalepeno Salsa, and Chipotle Tomatillo Salsa among four or five other varieties. There is a small cut-out section of a wall that houses their hot sauces - everything from Cholula and Tapatio to Sriracha.
All-in-all Flaming Amy’s isn’t a Vegan Paradise, but it’s not like such a thing exists in Wilmington (yet). If you need a burrito fix this is a good place to go, especially if you’re with meat-eaters.
